Manipulation and control of molecules embedded in helium nanodroplets using femtosecond laser pulses

Molecules are aligned in the laboratory frame (fixed in space) using laser pulses. The alignment dynamics of molecules embedded in helium droplets and the interaction between the molecule and the droplet is studied. Additional activities revolve around applications of laser aligned molecules and studies of the properties of helium droplets. Photoelectron spectroscopy of molecules inside helium droplets and extreme rotation of molecules inside helium droplets through optical centrifugation are some of the current projects.
