The Bachelor's Degree Programme in Chemistry

All you know is chemistry!

Do you want to understand how the world is connected all the way down to the nanoscale - or even further? Or do you want to help solve the global challenges we face today? Or perhaps understand areas such as human chemical biology and the star dust of physics? Then the Bachelor's in chemistry is the degree for you!

In short, chemistry binds the whole world together. With this degree, you will gain a strong chemical foundation, as well as a better understanding of how chemistry plays together with other disciplines, such as biology and physics, in the world of natural sciences.

The chemistry programme is located at the Department of Chemistry in the University Park. The University Park is the largest contiguous campus area in Denmark and is located in the heart of Aarhus. The study environment at the Department of Chemistry is active and exciting with lots of student associations such as the Friday bar, Kemishow and the career association. The research environment at the department is also fantastic - in fact it is one of the leading chemistry departments in the Nordic region. Of course, this affects teaching, which is at the absolute highest level. Teaching is only handled by active researchers.

The Bachelor's Degree Programme in Medicinal Chemistry

First and foremost, the medicinal chemistry programme gives you a strong chemical foundation. Likewise, you get your hands and head busy with everything from molecular design and synthesis of new types of medicine to being able to work with chemical processes in human cells.

In the beginning of the programme, many courses will coincide with courses from the chemistry programme. The reason for this is to ensure a thorough chemical basic understanding. At the same time, as a medicinal chemistry student, you have a number of biological courses that provide a deep insight into the biological molecular processes. You can read more about the structure of the program at www.bachelor.au.dk/medicinalkemi (Danish only).
