Biofuel Production

Conversion of waste and biomass residue to bio-oil in hot pressurized water in the presence of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts is a 2nd generation technology that holds great promise for radically improving the economy of converting such feedstocks into transportation fuels.

The technology has already been proven to work for a limited number of feedstocks. However, there is a strong potential for improvement of the fundamental conversion mechanisms of a much wider range of feedstocks including several feedstocks which today pose a disposal problem.

CEM conducts laboratory test studies of the conversion using a range of feed stocks, heterogeneous catalysts and operating parameters. The studies target improved product yield and quality.
