Abstract:
The wisdom of evolution is enshrined in natural products (paraphrasing Professor Prelog), and synthetic organic chemistry can fully unlock their potential. In this presentation, we will discuss recent studies from our group on how functionally optimized natural products can be accessed by total synthesis, the lessons that we learned along the journey, and how we used this knowledge to understand and to improve the biological function of natural products.
