Rewarding first yearly retreat in C3

In the beginning of October under a beautiful sky filled with cumulus clouds, the C3 moved headquarters to Fuglsøcentret for the first yearly retreat within the Center for Chemistry of Clouds.

We held the first C3 retreat in beautiful surroundings at the Fuglsøcentret Hotel og Konferencecenter last week. We enjoyed a sunny autumn day with walk and talks under beautiful cumulus clouds. On day 2, the cumulus clouds were replaced with heavy nimbostratus clouds and rain.

Merete Bilde introduced the background behind the centre and how the idea for a research centre sprouted. Fabian Mahrt and Clément Dubois, who have recently joined or will join C3 introduced what they have been working on before. Jan Thøgersen, Tobias Weidner, and Georg Baadsgaard Trolle started a great discussion on our molecule of the year.

During day 1, a few hours were spent outside or in the sports gym playing badminton, volley, or basket. The hiking group went to the nearby Trehøje in Mols Bjerge National Park.

On our trip from Aarhus to Fuglsø, we used a handheld CPC to record the number of particles. We could clearly see a worker turning on a weed burner before entering the bus (you would think we had asked him to come), when we entered the highway, and when we were driving on small country roads braking and speeding up quickly.

Thank you to all participants for creating a welcoming and inviting working atmosphere and for participating in all activities with vigor.
