In analytical chemistry, researchers study the separation, identification and quantification of the chemical components of natural and artificial materials. At the Department of Chemistry, Aarhus University, we focus on developing chemical analysis methods and applying these to obtain knowledge about atmospheric aerosol processes and the chemical composition of complex samples (e.g. bio-oils), as well as trying to understand how air pollution affects humans.
Analytical chemistry at the department also includes the field of electrochemistry and digital simulation.
