Assistant professor promoted to associate professor following successful evaluation
Congratulations Espen on being promoted to Associate Professor.
Espen first joined the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in 2021 and was promoted to Associate Professor on 1 June 2026 following a successful evaluation of the tenure track programme. With iNANO becoming part of the Department of Chemistry on 1 August, he will continue his academic career within the department.
Since joining Aarhus University, Espen has established a strong research profile in the study of disordered materials and the development of advanced electron microscopy techniques, while also contributing significantly to teaching and the academic environment.
The promotion follows a positive evaluation of his research achievements, teaching activities, supervision, and broader academic contributions. The tenure track programme is designed to support talented early-career researchers and provides a pathway towards a permanent academic position based on international-level performance.
As associate professor, Espen will continue his research on disordered materials using a broad suite of structural characterisation tools and contribute to the department’s teaching and research activities.
The Department of Chemistry congratulates Espen on this important milestone and looks forward to his continued contributions to research and education.
