CleanCloud (Clouds and Climate Transitioning to a Post-Fossil Aerosol Regime) is a Horizon Europe research project bringing together 20 European institutes to study how clouds and climate will respond to a future with much lower fossil fuel emissions.
As human-made aerosol emissions decline, natural aerosols are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping cloud formation and climate. CleanCloud combines observations, experiments, and advanced modelling to improve our understanding of aerosol-cloud interactions and how these processes will evolve during the transition to a post-fossil world. The project aims to provide new insights into future climate change and strengthen the scientific basis for climate predictions.
