Jun 23, 2026 | New Group Member

Juntao Yang joins the group as a Postdoc studying the influence of magnetic fields on electrocatalysis.

Apr 16, 2026 | MAGNESIS project kick-off

The MAGNESIS project will bring together four research teams to investigate how magnetic fields influence electrochemical reactions used to produce renewable fuels and chemicals.

Interfaces and Catalysis Group

The Interfaces and Catalysis group at the department of chemistry is headed by Professor Jeppe V. Lauritsen (b 1975) and investigates the fundamental physics and chemistry of surfaces, with a special emphasis on experiments on surface reactivity, catalysis and electrocatalysis for energy applications. Our projects are focused on development of new tools for characterization as well as applying these powerful tools to achieve an atomic-scale understanding of which factors determine the specific catalytic properties of nanoparticles and nanostructures, as described in further detail under the research section.

For detailed information please also have a look at our recent publications and highlights section

The characterization tools we use are mainly Scanning Probe Microscopy, Photoemission Spectroscopy and Thermal desorption Spectroscopy, including a range of ambient pressure SPMs capable of imaging surfaces under operando conditions. We also carry out experiments at international synchrotrons, mainly focusing on photoemission spectroscopy in ambient pressure (AP-XPS).
