Artificial Internalizing Receptor Affords Fast, Potent, Specific Drug Delivery to the Chemically Engineered Cells

Researchers from Alexander Zelikin’s group at Aarhus University perform chemical engineering of mammalian cells

Specifically, they designed new artificial internalizing receptors and were able to achieve specific, targeted drug delivery to the one cell with the artificial receptors within a mixed cell population.

The mode of drug delivery was found to be significantly more potent and much faster compared to the use of the pristine drug.

Furthermore, the bio-orthogonality of these new receptors provides a new and dedicated route of communication to chemically engineered cells.
